This advanced Non Ablative Fractional Laser Resurfacing  treats difficult skin conditions such as:

  • wrinkles & fine lines,
  • loose skin & sun damaged skin
  • uneven texture & open pores,
  • acne scarring, surgical and traumatic scars,
  • stretch marks

Over the past three years the concept of Fractional Skin Rejuvenation or fractional laser skin resurfacing has evolved. With Fractional Skin Rejuvenation the laser beam, an erbium laser beam, is broken up or fractionated into many small micro beams which are separated so that when they strike the skin surface small areas of the skin between the beams are not hit by the laser and left intact.

The small areas treated by the fractional micro beams, called micro treatment zones, cause minor but sufficient laser injury to promote new collagen production to replace collagen damaged by aging and sun exposure. Damage to collagen in the skin is a cause of skin wrinkles. The new collagen produced by the laser injury “plumps” skin wrinkles. The intact skin between the micro treatment zones allows for much more rapid healing-2-4 days as opposed to 2-3 weeks for the older CO2 laser resurfacing, and enough pigment cells are left intact that loss of pigmentation does not occur.

However, the new fractional laser is able to penetrate much deeper than traditional non fractional ablative lasers and we are discovering that deeper penetration of the laser produces a much more dramatic stimulation of new collagen formation which translates into a plumping effect on the skin. This is particularly useful in treating wrinkles, depressed acne scars and any other scars.

Why choose Fractional Laser Rejuvenation?

Less down time, better new collagen production in the deeper skin layers causing skin plumping especially of acne scars , fewer complications like hyper pigmentation, improvement in skin texture and enlarged pores and improvement in wrinkles .

How does Fractional Skin  Resurfacing System work?

The Fractional Laser delivers laser light which is split into an array of narrow, focused microbeams, to create columns of minor trauma within the skin. The heated tissue within the columns initiates a natural healing process that forms new, healthy tissue resulting in a tighter, more even refined and rejuvenated skin.

What areas can I have treated?

Fractional laser treatments can be applied to most areas of the body, including the face, chest, arms, and hands.

What makes Fractional treatments different from other Skin Resurfacing methods?

The older types of skin resurfacing lasers, such as CO2 lasers, use the ablative method which removes the epidermis and some of the dermis. Although significant results were seen, the drawbacks included red and raw skin, and the risk of infection for several weeks after treatment.

More recently lasers use the non-ablative method: sending light pulses into the dermis, while leaving the epidermis intact. The Lux1540™ Fractional Skin Resurfacing offers both superior results and no downtime. The microbeams penetrate deeper into the dermis than other fractional competing devices for effective, long-term results. And the Fractional, non-ablative approach stimulates quick healing in the dermis, while leaving the epidermis intact, with no lasting redness.

TheLux1540™ Fractional Laser hand piece delivers light in an array of high precision microbeams. The process protects the outer tissue from infection as it heals. The result: faster dermal remodeling and skin resurfacing. High Efficacy, No Downtime. The Lux1540™Fractional Laser offers greater energy per microbeam, and greater depth of penetration (up to1 mm)than competing devices. This stimulates quick healing within the surrounding deep tissue for the most effective deep corrections and long-term results are obtainable.

Are these treatments safe? Are they painful?

By delivering light as individual pulses of microbeams, the StarLux 1540nm wavelength protects the skin from the overheating that can result from many other resurfacing treatments. In addition, the StarLux 1540nm handpiece features a chilled tip providing constant cooling of the skin, so you feel only minor discomfort during treatment.

What should I expect after treatment?

You may experience redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated area, which typically fades within a few hours of treatment. The skin may often have a pinkish tone for 2 to 3  days. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time. Since the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, much of the skin is left unaffected and there is a quick healing process. Most people notice positive changes in skin tone and texture within a few days. A series of treatments at 4 week intervals is recommended to achieve the desired results.
